GGPoker is well known for its unique tournament formats, and one of the most notable among them is the six-player Spin & Gold. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at how these tournaments work and examine their key features.
GGPoker's 6-max Spin & Gold has the same game mechanics as classic 3-player tournaments.
The key features of Big Spins, besides the number of players, are:
For tournaments with different buy-ins, only the probabilities of hitting the two lowest multipliers vary.
The statistics are based on a sample of 100 million tournaments played.
| Buy-ins | Probability x4 | Probability x6 |
|---|---|---|
| $0,25 | 47,863,700 | 44,624,220 |
| $1, $3, $10 | 47,863,880 | 44,624,080 |
| $5 | 47,863,940 | 44,624,040 |
| $20 | 47,863,760 | 44,624,160 |
Starting with a coefficient of x8, the probability becomes similar for all limits:
The largest prizes are awarded when the top multipliers are triggered.
| Buy-ins | Multiplier | Probability |
|---|---|---|
| $0,25 | x40,000 | 100 |
| $20 | x50,000 | 80 |
| $1, $3, $10 | x100,000 | 40 |
| $5 | x200,000 | 20 |
Up to and including x8, the entire prize pool is awarded to the tournament winner. After that, the number of paid places gradually increases:

The starting stack size, blind growth rate, and time bank in 6-max Spin&Gold depend on the multiplier:
| Multiplier | Timebank (seconds) | Stack (chips) | Blinds growth |
|---|---|---|---|
| х4 | 10 | 300 | 1 minute |
| х6 | 10 | 300 | 2 minutes |
| х8 | 30 | 500 | 2 minutes |
| х10 | 30 | 500 | 3 minutes |
| х20 | 30 | 500 | after 10 hands |
| x100, x200 | 30 | 800 | after 15 hands |
| Maximum | 30 | 1,000 | after 20 hands |
In other words, the higher the multiplier, the more balanced the tournament structure becomes.
Players in 6-Max Spin & Gold participate in the same Daily Spin & Gold Leaderboard and Spin & Gold Challenge promotions as those competing in three-player formats. In both promotions, rewards are distributed based on the number of Gold Points earned.
| Limit/Points | 1 place | 2 place | 3 place | 4-6 place |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $20 | 320 | 240 | 160 | 80 |
| $10 | 160 | 120 | 80 | 40 |
| $5 | 80 | 60 | 40 | 20 |
| $3 | 48 | 36 | 24 | 12 |
| $1 | 16 | 12 | 8 | 4 |
| $0.25 | 4 | 3 | 2 | 1 |
The strategy of 6-max Spin & Gold differs significantly from traditional 3-max tournaments, although the basic mechanics are the same. The main difference is the number of opponents: with six players at the table, the value of starting hands decreases, and opening ranges become narrower, especially in early positions.
In classic 3-max tournaments, the action begins almost immediately, with players constantly finding themselves in BTN vs BB situations, being forced to defend their blinds with a wide range. In 6-max, the game is much closer to regular MTTs or short Sit & Go: position, preflop discipline, and the ability to avoid marginal all-ins early on are more important.
Another key strategic aspect is tied to the payout structure. Tournaments with x4 and x6 multipliers follow a winner-takes-all format, which keeps the action just as aggressive as in 3-max Spin & Gold games. Starting from the x10 multiplier, however, multiple players finish in the money, causing the importance of ICM considerations to increase dramatically.
As a result, players should approach all-ins with medium stacks more carefully and pay closer attention to payout pressure. This becomes even more noticeable at higher multipliers, where deeper stacks and slower blind levels transform 6-max Spin & Gold from a simple push-fold format into a true short-handed tournament. In these games, players with strong postflop skills gain a significant advantage.
The tournament structure itself is another important factor. At higher multipliers, players receive deeper starting stacks, longer time banks, and slower blind increases. As a result, adapting to table dynamics, managing positional play, and exploiting overly tight opponents become far more important in the 6-max format.
Unlike 3-max Spin & Gold, where many decisions are largely dictated by shallow-stack play, six-player Spin & Gold tournaments provide significantly more room for maneuvering and strategic depth.
