Currently, lottery sit and go tournaments are offered at most online poker sites. GGPoker, which launched Spin&Gold SnG’s in February 2020, is no exception. There are 15 stakes available (from $0.25 to $200) with potential prizes of up to $1,000,000. You will learn about all Spin & Gold features from our article.
GGPoker Spin & Gold is a hyper-turbo SnG format where players can win up to 200,000x buy-ins. It is offered in 3-max (buy-ins range from $0.25 to $200) and 6-max format (buy-ins: $0.25, $1, $3, $5, $10, $20).
About 6-max Spin & Gold, a unique variant, we highlight that the prize pools are higher compared to the regular 3-max format (x200,000 ($2M) in the $10 one vs. x100,000 ($1M)).
The biggest jackpot was hit on June 21, 2021: the $100 buy-in tournament triggered the maximum x20K multiplier; thus, three participants shared a $2M prize pool. The eventual winner, "kapsikorn," took home a huge $1,000,000.
The prize size in Spin&Gold depends on the tournament buy-in, table size and multiplier size.
Different buy-in levels have varying odds of landing only the first two multipliers (per 100M games):
| Buy-ins | Probability of Multiplier x2 | Probability of Multiplier x3 |
|---|---|---|
| $0,25 | 47,863,850 | 44,624,100 |
| $1, $3, $10 | 47,863,940 | 44,624,040 |
| $5 | 47,863,970 | 44,624,020 |
| $20 | 47,863,880 | 44,624,080 |
| $50 | 47,863,700 | 44,624,200 |
| $100 | 47,363,550 | 45,124,300 |
| $200 | 47,363,100 | 45,124,600 |
Starting from a x4 multiplier, the probability does not depend on the buy-in:
The largest payouts become available when players hit the top multipliers:
| Buy-ins | Multiplier | Frequency (100M games) |
|---|---|---|
| $200 | x5,000 | 300 |
| $100 | x10,000 | 150 |
| $50 | x20,000 | 100 |
| $0,25 | x40,000 | 50 |
| $20 | x50,000 | 40 |
| $10, $3, $1 | x100,000 | 20 |
| $5 | x200,000 | 10 |
For multipliers up to x5, the entire prize pool is awarded to the winner. After that, the number of paid places increases:
Different buy-in levels have varying chances of landing only the first two multipliers (per 100M games):
| Buy-ins | Probability x4 | Probability x6 |
|---|---|---|
| $0,25 | 47,863,700 | 44,624,220 |
| $1, $3, $10 | 47,863,880 | 44,624,080 |
| $5 | 47,863,940 | 44,624,040 |
| $20 | 47,863,760 | 44,624,160 |
Starting from a x8 multiplier, the probability does not depend on the buy-in:
The largest payouts become available when players hit the top multipliers:
| Buy-ins | Multiplier | Probability |
|---|---|---|
| $0,25 | x40,000 | 100 |
| $20 | x50,000 | 80 |
| $1, $3, $10 | x100,000 | 40 |
| $5 | x200,000 | 20 |
For multipliers up to x8, the entire prize pool is awarded to the winner. After that, the number of paid places increases:
In GGPoker Spin&Gold, the multiplier size determines not only the prizes but also the tournament structure itself (starting stack, blind growth rate, and time bank).
The larger the multiplier, the smoother the tournament structure.
| Multiplier (3-max) | Timebank (seconds) | Stack (chips) | Blinds growth |
|---|---|---|---|
| х2 | 10 | 300 | 1 minute |
| х3 | 10 | 300 | 2 minutes |
| х4 | 30 | 500 | 2 minutes |
| х5 | 30 | 500 | 3 minutes |
| х10 | 30 | 500 | after 10 hands |
| x50, x100 | 30 | 800 | after 15 hands |
| Maximum | 30 | 1,000 | after 20 hands |
The blind structure is the same for all tournaments:
| Level | Blinds |
|---|---|
| 1 | 10|20 |
| 2 | 15|30 |
| 3 | 20|40 |
| 4 | 30|60 |
| 5 | 40|80 |
| 6 | 50|100 |
| 7 | 60|120 |
| 8 | 75|150 |
| 9 | 90|180 |
| 10 | 100|200 |
| 11 | 25|250 |
| 12 | 150|300 |
| 13 | 175|350 |
| 14 | 200|400 |
| 15 | 225|450 |
A 7% fee is applied to these tournaments regardless of the stakes and table size.
Compared to other poker sites with spin and go, such rake can be called standard.
Spin & Gold players can earn rakeback through standard promotions: a GGPoker 100% first deposit bonus of up to $600 and the Ocean Rewards loyalty program, as well as two dedicated promotions:
Gold Points are awarded for finishing positions, and depending on the buy-in size.

Overall, the Spin & Gold Challenge is an exclusive promotion that gives a slight rakeback boost to heavy grinders.
It "insures" the player from getting the lowest x2 multiplier (x4 for 6-max tables) but doubles the buy-in.
Suppose you choose insurance and get an x2 multiplier. In that case, the tournament turns into a freeroll (you get back both the buy-in and the insurance). In the case of any other multiplier, the insurance amount is lost.
Of course, you can play without insurance. Just make the appropriate choice by clicking one of the two buttons at the bottom of the Spin&Gold lobby: "Play Now with insurance" or "Play Now without insurance."
Is it worth the money?
Since the probabilities of hitting x2 and x3 multipliers are very close (46.5% vs. 44.3%), taking insurance is a bad decision in the long run. It is equal to paying double rake for every tournament played.
Success in GGPoker Spin & Gold largely depends on understanding one core principle: the vast majority of long-term EV comes from the most common low multipliers. Because of this, consistency and discipline are essential — solid preflop ranges, balanced sizing, and constant awareness of table dynamics all play a major role. The ability to adapt accurately to different opponents is equally important.
At lower buy-ins and lower multipliers, recreational players frequently lose focus, defend blinds too loosely or too passively. This creates profitable opportunities for sustained aggression: stealing frequently from the button, isolating limpers with wide but structured ranges, and selectively 3-betting opponents who tend to overvalue the strength of hands.
At the same time, it's important not to become overly aggressive. Against regular players and short-stacked opponents, aggression should remain selective, calculated, and mathematically sound.
The objective is to consistently convert a small advantage in these common scenarios. In practice, this means maintaining a wide but disciplined button opening range, adjusting big blind defense based on opponents’ stealing frequencies, and reacting quickly to opponents' stack sizes and timing changes.
Push-fold play is especially important in Spin & Gold due to the hyper-turbo format. Most key decisions occur with effective stacks of 25 big blinds or less, while a large portion of overall EV comes from situations in the 10–15bb range. In these spots, intuition alone is not enough — success depends on well-studied and thoroughly practiced ranges that account for both payout structure and ICM.
Special attention should be paid to nodes where the field systematically makes mistakes: underpushing on the button and overfolding on the big blind, which allows for expanding profitable pushes and calls.
Finally, variance. Long downstreakes are normal even when playing profitably. Therefore, bankroll management should be conservative: typically 150-300 buy-ins for comfortable play, and even more for aggressive grinding.
Key tips for beginners:
Well, playing Spin & Gold on GGPoker can be profitable, but it's one of the most volatile poker formats. The main profit comes from maintaining a consistent edge over the field in Spins with minimal multipliers.
Even the strongest Spin & Gold players rarely achieve an ROI higher than 4-6%, and to break even, you need to win around 35-36% of tournaments, which is only slightly higher than the theoretical 33% for evenly matched players. This means the difference between the average and top players is only a few percentage points in win rate.
Looking at real-life player cases makes the picture even clearer. Forums note that a good regular player can have around a 2-3% ROI in Spin & Gold, equivalent to about $0.20 EV per game at the $10 limit. A significant portion of the profit depends on extremely rare multipliers: in one analysis, around 20% of the total ROI came from tournaments with very rare multipliers.
Another example is a grind of 7,000 tournaments with a profit of ~$3k, where almost 40% of the profit came from rakeback and bonuses, not the game itself. There are also cases of high-stakes regular players who play at a loss and rely solely on leaderboards and rakeback to remain profitable.
Thus, the profitability of Spin&Gold depends on several factors:
Without high volume, strong discipline, and additional payouts, most players end up losing money in the long run.
