Colorado doesn't license online poker. ACR, Ignition and BetOnline accept Colorado players: the state isn't on their published restricted lists. CoinPoker accepts them in practice, even though its T&C list the US as restricted, and our affiliate manager confirms that Phenom does too. Bovada closed Colorado in June 2024. Neither the 2025 nor the 2026 legislative session produced an online poker bill.

Colorado's Division of Gaming says placing bets from Colorado with offshore sites is illegal, and gambling is a petty offense under state law (up to a $300 fine). We found no reported case of a Colorado player being charged, but you also have no state recourse if a site doesn't pay.

Ignition Poker

Ignition Poker seats players anonymously and at random, so there are no screen names to track and no lobby to pick opponents from. Games run across NLH, fixed-limit Hold'em, PLO and PLO Hi/Lo.

Fast-fold Zone Poker goes up to $2.50/$5, and Jackpot Sit & Go prizes reach $120,000, a 1,200x multiplier. The monthly flagship tournament carries a $200K guarantee, and regular MTT buy-ins run from $1 to $150.

The poker bonus is 150% up to $1,500 on a crypto deposit, or 100% up to $1,000 by card. Ignition makes more sense for players who value anonymity and fast-fold cash games.

BetOnline Poker

BetOnline Poker has served US players for more than 20 years. It is run by Blue High House SA (reg. No. 620623) under a Panama government license. Ring games are its strength: Boost fast-fold tables up to NL50, PLO, PLO5, PLO6 and PLO Hi/Lo.

Monthly tournament guarantees top $10M, led on Sundays by the $100K GTD Main Event ($55) and the $50K GTD Sunday Showdown PKO ($109). New players get 100% up to $1,000 plus 21 free entries into 8-BOMB Sit & Go, and the VIP program pays 10–30% rakeback. Across 1,000+ accounts we manage, average effective rakeback came to 11.72% over six months, near the bottom of that 10–30% scale.

Phenom Poker

Phenom Poker has the biggest welcome offer on this list: 150% up to $3,000, credited automatically on any deposit from $10 with no code and released in 10% steps over 45 days. Rakeback reaches 40%: five levels from 10% to 30%, plus a boost for staking the platform's PHNM token. Balances are held in CHIP, an ERC-20 token pegged 1:1 to the dollar.

Phenom launched in 2024 under an Anjouan license, with Brian Rast, Viktor Blom and Dan Cates on its Team Pro roster. It deals NLH up to $200/$400, PLO at higher stakes, and mixed games. KYC is mandatory: ID plus a camera check.

The weak spot is traffic, about 100–200 connections at peak. Treat Phenom as a bonus-and-rakeback stop, not a main grind. Phenom publishes no list of restricted states, and our affiliate manager confirms it accepts Colorado players.

Which online poker sites accept Colorado players?

No site is licensed in Colorado, so access depends on each operator's own terms, and those terms don't line up. All five sites on our list take Colorado players, but on three different grounds, and Bovada, once the default US site, no longer takes them at all. Bovada stopped accepting Colorado players on June 21, 2024, and the block covers the whole platform, poker included; existing players were left with crypto withdrawals to cash out. Colorado is on Bovada's official list of restricted states. Ignition belongs to the same group and kept Colorado open: the two sites publish different lists, and either list can change.

CoinPoker is the one site on our list where paper and practice split, as our CoinPoker countries guide explains. Since 2026, clause 3.1(m) of its T&C counts the US as a restricted territory, yet Americans still get in: our affiliate manager confirms it, and dozens of US players we work with play there actively. The T&C risk sits with the player, and we can't promise the operator won't start enforcing its own clause. Accepting a player is the operator's decision, not permission from the state.

Is online poker legal in Colorado?

No. Colorado licenses casino gaming in three towns and sports betting, but not online poker, and its gaming regulator says betting from Colorado with offshore sites is illegal.

The Colorado Division of Gaming's "What is Legal? Gambling Questions in Colorado" page says: "Internet gambling is illegal under state and federal laws." Offshore sites may be legal where they take the bets, "but it remains illegal to place bets from Colorado with these businesses," and a player who doesn't get paid has no state agency to turn to. The federal half of that sentence is UIGEA (2006), which targets gambling payments rather than the player.

The statute behind it is C.R.S. 18-10-103(1): "A person who engages in gambling commits a petty offense." Since March 1, 2022, a petty offense carries a fine of up to $300 and/or up to 10 days in jail (C.R.S. 18-1.3-503(1.5)). Article 18-10 predates the internet and never mentions it, so the regulator relies on its general ban on transmitting or receiving gambling information "by any means."

We looked for prosecutions of Colorado players over offshore poker and found none on record. The state's pressure falls on operators.

Will Colorado legalize online poker?

Not without a constitutional amendment, and lawmakers haven't moved toward one: the 2025 and 2026 sessions didn't see a single online poker or online casino bill. Attorney General Formal Opinion No. 13-02 (2013) concluded that online gaming isn't "limited gaming," the constitution's term for casino gaming in the three towns, so authorizing it would take an amendment to the state constitution. Since Amendment 71 (2016), an amendment needs 55% of the vote to pass.

The only gambling law of 2026, SB 26-131 (signed June 1, 2026), bans credit card deposits at licensed sportsbooks and limits bettors to six deposits a day. It doesn't touch poker. The Limited Gaming Control Commission also bars Colorado casino licensees from any involvement in internet gaming offered to state residents. Can you play sweepstakes poker in Colorado?

Yes. Global Poker, ClubWPT Gold, Stake.us and Clubs Poker accept Colorado players under their own rules, and the state has neither banned sweepstakes nor acted against them.

Gold Coins are for play; Sweeps Coins can be redeemed for prizes. Colorado isn't among the 12 states that ban sweepstakes, no ban bill is pending, and the state hasn't sent a cease-and-desist to any operator. HB 15-1047 (2015) outlawed sweepstakes cafés, physical venues with slot-style games, not play from home. None of the four excludes Colorado in its own rules (Stake.us T&C v18.0 among them); ClubWPT Gold requires players to be 18+.

For a regular, sweeps trade smaller pools for a softer field. The audience is US-only, so pools are smaller than at the big offshore sites, but coins are bought with fiat rather than crypto, which brings in more recreational players. Rake is usually 5%, bonuses are thinner and more repetitive than offshore, and rakeback as such is rare: the main reward is small Sweeps Coin drops.

Sweepstakes sites come with a different risk profile: state-by-state restrictions rather than offshore regulation. A wave of state bans followed in 2025–2026, although Colorado had not joined it, so the current position is not guaranteed to last.

How do you deposit and cash out from Colorado?

Crypto is the main cashier at all five sites. Cards on offshore sites work only some of the time, and card withdrawals usually aren't available.

Do you pay tax on poker winnings in Colorado?

Yes: federal income tax plus Colorado income tax, which was 4.4% for the 2025 tax year. From 2026, only 90% of gambling losses are deductible at the federal level.

Colorado withholds 4% of a win whenever the payout triggers federal withholding (W-2G or 1042-S), according to the Colorado Department of Revenue. That mostly means large casino payouts. Offshore sites don't issue W-2G forms, so reporting your winnings is on you.

Starting with the 2026 tax year, the federal deduction for gambling losses is 90% of losses, capped at your winnings and available only if you itemize (26 U.S.C. §165(d) as amended by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, P.L. 119-21; IRS Publication 505). For a high-volume regular with large gross wins and losses, that means tax on 10% of losses even in a break-even year.

Live poker rooms in Colorado

Black Hawk has four of Colorado's five commercial poker rooms, and Midnight Rose in Cripple Creek is the fifth. Two tribal casinos also deal poker on a small scale. Central City has no poker room. With betting limits gone, Black Hawk spreads no-limit games with uncapped buy-ins, and Bally's is the state's tournament hub.

Colorado capped bets at $5 in 1991, raised the cap to $100 with Amendment 50 in 2008 and dropped limits entirely in May 2021 under Amendment 77. Every commercial room requires players to be 21 or older.
