In the early morning of June 28, 2024, the poker world experienced a moment that it had been waiting for more than 10 years. Canadian Daniel Negreanu won his seventh World Series of Poker bracelet. He took the first position in the prestigious $50k Poker Players Championship tournament winning $1,178,703.
One of the most interesting events of the WSOP 2024 is that players from the so-called ”old school" returned to the headlines. We already wrote that Phil Ivey won his #11 bracelet and that Viktor Bloom was strong. Today, it is the turn of another poker "monster."
Daniel Negreanu, the charismatic GGPoker ambassador, won his seventh WSOP bracelet after an 11-year hiatus, after being crowned champion at the $50k Poker Players Championship.
Daniel's last two World Series of Poker wins were at the Australian and European editions of the WSOP, and before that, the Canadian won in Las Vegas in 2008.
After 2013, Negreanu came to the heads-up for a bracelet on five occasions. Last year, it reported a loss of $2,228,174 chasing success. In the 2024 edition, Daniel had already cashed in 8 events but had yet to reach any final table.
The Poker Players Championship had 89 entries. The level of the field is evidenced by the fact that of the 14 players who passed through the cashier, only Dylan Smith had yet to win a bracelet. Interestingly, Ivey and Bloom occupied positions 7 and 16, respectively.
Daniel's victory at the WSOP 2024 became one of the most important and prestigious. The $50k Poker Players Championship, along with the Main Event and the $250k High Roller, is one of the most respected tournaments on the circuit.

In an interview after his triumph, an excited Negreanu said:
“I was very worried before the start of the heads-up. I didn't want to be second again. I've been there many times already.”
About the importance of this tournament for him:
“This is the only tournament I really wanted to win. There's also the Main Event, but this one is different. Only the best players participate in the Poker Players Championship. The levels are 100 minutes, you have to play 5 days for 12 hours. This tournament is not won by luck.”
The last day of play started with the TOP 5. The main character was Brice Yockey. On one hand, the American eliminated two players, David Benyamine and Dylan Smith, converting his stack from the fourth to the largest.
Three hours later, Chris Brewer was eliminated at the hands of Brice. His pair of aces failed to resist a flush draw. Yockey came from winning his second bracelet just a month ago in an Omaha tournament.
At the beginning of the final definition, Yockey had a solid chip advantage. Daniel tried to change this situation for more than three hours and even briefly became the chip leader, but during a round of 7-Card Stud, his stack dropped to 8 big bets.
The Canadian rebounded in two hands of Omaha:
Curiously, Brice could have kept all Daniel's chips when six players left. In the end, Daniel hit an amazing out on the river in a PLO8 hand to complete a straight flush and beat a full house.
