GGNetwork rolled out an update to its platform on August 13, 2020, which brings important news for all Omaha and 6+ Hold'em players. At regular PLO tables, the rake was increased from 3% to 5%, but caps were added. In Short Deck Hold'em, starting at $0,25 ante, the caps have been lowered.
Among the top poker sites, GGNetwork was the only one where Omaha cash tables didn't have rake caps, at a 3% rate. This caused constant complaints by grinders because the rake taken from the tables was too high, compared to other poker rooms where the rake is 5% with a 3bb cap.
Since today, the situation in the network changed:
Starting August 13, 2020, Omaha tables on GGNetwork will have a 5% rake with caps depending on the stake, ranging from 1bb to 3bb.
Let's compare the new rake structure on GGNetwork with the leading competitors. Keep in mind that the indirect rake distribution system (PVI rake) still applies so that all comparisons will be entirely relative in terms of the rake assigned to the player.
Rake caps benchmark in PLO:
Stake | GGPoker [bb] | PokerStars [bb] | partypoker [bb] |
---|---|---|---|
PLO10$ | 3 | 15* | 10 |
PLO25$ | 3 | 8* | 12 |
PLO50$ | 2 | 4 | 6 |
PLO100$ | 2 | 3 | 3 |
PLO200$ | 2 | 1,75 | 1,5 |
PLO500$ | 1,5 | 1 | 0,6 |
PLO1K$ | 1,5 | 0,75 | 0,3 |
PLO2K$ | 1,5 | 0,5 | 0,2 |
PLO5K$ | 1,5 | 0,2 | 0,15 |
PLO10K$ | 1,5 | 0,1 | 0,1 |
PLO20K$ | 1,5 | 0,05 | 0,05 |
PLO50K$+ | 1 | 0,04 | 0,025 |
*Considering a 4,5 rake%
It's also necessary to consider one more fact: in terms of traffic, GGNetwork is way ahead of its competitors. For example, in PokerStars and partypoker, only a few games higher than PLO500 can be seen, whereas at GGPoker, up to a dozen tables can be spotted at PLO500, PLO1k–2k.
In Short Deck Hold'em, the changes are less critical than in Omaha. Here, starting from the fourth stake (ante $0,25), the caps were lowered:
Stake | Before | Now |
---|---|---|
$0,25-$1 | 3 | 2 |
$2-$10 | 3 | 1,5 |
$50 | 3 | 1 |
$100 | 3 | 0,6 |
$200 | 3 | 0,4 |
$300 | 3 | 0,33 |
$500 | 3 | 0,3 |
Unfortunately, it's not clear how much this will help this discipline. The number of games didn't increase after switching from yuan to dollars, and rarely more than 5-7 tables at each of the six active stakes with antes up to $1 are played.
